Why did you choose this course at Manchester?

Since a young age I've always wanted to study law and The University of Manchester Law School is one of the best in the country.

Studying Law at Manchester was the best option for me because it has provided me with invaluable resources and I am privileged to be taught by such phenomenal and fantastic lecturers who are the best in their respective fields. To study at the Law School was one of the best decisions I have made.

What do you most enjoy about studying here?

I love the lecturers and the support that you get at the Law School. Lecturers and academic staff are easily approachable and provide us with a lot of resources and advice that is useful for our development as law students. Additionally, the support given by other academic staff such as academic advisors and the careers support that help and guide us on the right path is very valuable.

What has been the highlight of your course so far?

So far the highlight of my course has been being able to take part in the different societies such as the Law Society and the Donor Impact Society. Additionally, I have also been able to get involved with the Legal Advice Centre which has allowed me to apply the skills I have learnt to practical situations and in my professional work placements. Studying at university isn’t just about getting a degree; it’s about being part of the university and taking part in different things regardless of what they are.

Have you been involved in any of the Law School’s societies and events?

I have been involved in the Law Society by attending different events, but I am currently Secretary of the Donor Impact Society raising awareness of the importance of donors by alumni and scholars, and I have also been part of the Legal Advice Centre.

What are your plans after graduation, and how do you feel studying at Manchester has prepared you?

My current plans are to study a master’s degree in Public International Law and once I have completed that, my aim is to do my LPC and work as a solicitor in Property, Immigration or Family Law.

Studying at Manchester provides you with a lot of independence which I feel is essential, especially if you’re somebody who likes to research and further your knowledge. The skills I have gained and learnt at Manchester have been really valuable to me and it puts me in a good position for the future.

Is there one valuable experience that you will take away with you that you could have only experienced at Manchester?

The ability to develop into an autonomous and responsible individual who is willing to succeed. Prior to studying at Manchester, I didn’t have much confidence but the last three years have taught me how to be responsible and face obstacles without being afraid.

The atmosphere and surroundings at Manchester change and develop you in so many good ways and it teaches you how to be the best version of yourself. If I didn’t attend Manchester I wouldn’t have been able to be the person that I am now.

What advice would you give to new students at the Law School?

My advice would be to work hard throughout the course of your degree, these three years will define the rest of our life. Always be determined to succeed regardless of what obstacles you have to face. In addition to working hard, try to have fun because university isn’t just about studying, it’s about being part of the vibrant and great atmosphere that the University of Manchester provides.
