International sudent spotlights
Some of our current international students share their experiences of the School and studying for a degree at Manchester.
Arsalan came over from Pakistan to study Law. He tells us that the most enjoyable aspects of studying here are meeting a diverse set of people and having an extremely supportive system in place to utilise.

Aisha came over from Brunei to study Law with Politics. She tells us how she's been in The University of Manchester's Law Society since her first year. She's joined the main mooting competitions, and has been appointed the School of Law's Student Ambassador for 2017-18.
Amaris Salsabila Malik Bawazier
Amaris came over from Indonesia to study Law. She tells us how she chose the School of Law at The University of Manchester for its wide range of subjects and she particularly chose Manchester because she wanted a city and the metropolitan lifestyle that such a big place offers.
Loh Ming Hanz
Loh came over from Malaysia to study Law. He tells us that he chose The University of Manchester because he heard that it had one of the best Schools of Law in the UK. He also enjoys the independence that comes with being away from home.
Karen Kei Ching Ho
Karen came over from Hong Kong to study Criminology. She tells us that she chose the University of Manchester for its great location and high employment rates for graduates as well as its broad range of research material available to students.
Beatrice came over from Kenya to study for a master's in Transnational Dispute Resolution. She tells us how the prospect of studying in multi-cultural city was exciting. She likes the diversity and the debate - and the requirement to question what you think you know.
Priscilla came over from Malaysia to study Law. She tells us Manchester has given her many opportunities that she would not have got by studying in Malaysia, such as the breadth of subjects to choose from. She also feels that studying in Manchester has helped her grow personally as an individual, learning many life skills.
Narom came over from Thailand to study for his master's in International Business and Commercial Law. He tells us Manchester is a great city for international students, with everything you could need, from good restaurants to cinemas and theatres. Erica came over from Canada to study Law. She tells us that moving far away from home helped her grow as an individual. She has thrown herself into her studies and has volunteered with the Legal Advice Centre as well as joining the Manchester University Law Society.
Lindsay Florence Wanyoto Mutende
Lindsay came over from Uganda to study Law. She tells us that so far the highlight of her course has been the cases. She says the lectures provide in-depth detail. Lindsay likes the fact that Manchester offers foreign language classes and is considering taking up French as a member of the International Society.
Scholastica Faith Nakol
Scholastica Faith came over from Uganda to study for a master's in Healthcare Ethics and Law. She tells offers the advice of reminding yourself continually about what you came here for. "This is important because, you are your own number one cheerleader".
Danielle is from the United States and had been undertaking a career in cross-cultural education management in China when she decided to return to her former academic passions. She is studying for a master's in Security and International Law.
Jesse came over from the United States to study for a master's in Security and International Law. He tells us one of his highlights has been a module on International Nuclear Law in which he worked alongside nuclear scientist PhD students. Mathura came over from Canada to study Law with Politics. She tells us that she chose The University of Manchester as it provided the opportunity to study two areas she's always been interested in. After graduation she plans to complete the National Committee of Accreditation and become a lawyer in Canada.
Wen Yi Cao
Wen came over from Hungary to study Law. She tells us about how she is looking forward to going on an exchange for a semester at the University of Hong Kong. She says the experience will add to her CV and law firms are really looking for international profiles.
Victoria Marie Gabrielli
Victoria came over from France and Belgium to study Law with Politics. She tells us that she has learned a lot about the British legal system and how it differs to the French legal system. She also gets to continue surfing thanks to the Surf society.
Lacramioara Elena Metehau
Lacramioara came over from Romania to study Law with Criminology. She tells us that Manchester felt like home from the first day. "It is a warm city which welcomes everyone regardless of their ethnicity, culture or religion." After graduating she would like to pursue a career as a Crime Scene Investigator.
