Guardian University Guide 2018 ranks us in top 5 places in the UK to study Criminology

24 May 2017

The results highlight how over 90% of our criminology students were satisfied with their teaching, echoing the 2017 National Student Survey results for our BA Criminology.

The BA Criminology is a popular degree that encourages students to learn about crime, deviance and victimisation in relation to the societal context, whilst developing key transferable skills that help improve employment prospects.

The course benefits from a highly varied range of course units, where students can choose to study crime mapping, psychopaths, mass violence or learn alongside prisoners in our new 'Learning Criminology Inside' project. Learning is supported by a comprehensive careers programme and criminology is also part of The University of Manchester's Q-Step initiative, which includes the opportunity to benefit from paid summer internships with range of organisations.

Head of the School of Law, Professor Toby Seddon says: "I am delighted and very proud to see that we are now in the top 5 in the UK. We have excellent and innovative criminology courses and the criminology team are truly outstanding."
