International entry requirements
The minimum entry requirements for admission to degree programmes within the School of Law are listed, by country, below. Applicants are reminded that all of the information submitted as part of your UCAS application including your personal statement, academic reference and previous educational achievement is used when we make a decision on your application and that these requirements may vary according to your individual circumstances. This information is provided for guidance only and requirements may be slighty lower for the BA Law with Politics and the BA Criminology courses.

Australia. A minimum of 95.05 in the UAI/TER/ENTER and a minimum band of 4 in the Queenland OP.
Austria.
Reifeprüfungszeugnis/Maturazeugnis with scores of 1 (sehr gut) in the majority of subjects taken including 2 in English.
Barbados. From applicants currently studying in Barbados we ask that you complete Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) with two single-unit and two double-unit courses achieving no less than grade 1 in all 2nd unit courses. A minimum of grade II in CSEC English is also required. Carribbean Studies and Communications studies are not accepted.
Belgium. Applicants from Belgium are expecte to have completed the Certficat d'Enseignment Secondaire Superieur/Diploma van Hoger Secundair Onderwijs with no less than 85% in any subject or 8/9 out of 10.
Bulgaria. Applicants are expected to achieve 5.8 overall in the Diploma za Zaversheno Sredno Obrazovanie and a minimum of 5.7 from Maturity exam. In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Canada. Our entry requirements vary depending upon your awarding territory and applicants are invited to contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office directly for more detailed entry requirements for individual territories. We expect you to have completed or be completing Grade 12 and to have been awarded your Secondary/High School Diploma or Certificate. As a guide, for Ontario we would ask for 80% in a minimum of 6 grade 12 Subjects.
People's Republic of China. Applicants from the PRC are expected to have completed their Senior High School Examination and either 3 GCE A Levels or an appropriate UK-based foundation programme.
In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Cyprus. We usually expect that applicants from Cyprus have completed either the Apolytirion with an overall score of 18+ in addition to two GCE A Levels at Grades BB or 3 GCE A Levels at grades AAA.
Finland. Applicants from Finland are expected to pass their Matriculation exams with no subject less than
6 or Excellent (E). In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
France. A minimum score of 14 out of 20 in the French Baccalaureatte.
In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Germany. Applicants taking the Zeugnis der Allgermeinen Hochschulreife/Abitur are expected to achieve an average of 1.0.
In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Greece. Applicants from Greece are expected to have completed either the Apolytirion of Lykeio with an overall score of 18+ in addition to two GCE A Levels at Grades BB or 3 GCE A Levels at grades AAA.
India. Year 12 students from India are expected to offer either the Higher Secondary/Senior School Certificate (CBSE) or the All India Senior School Certificate (ICSE and State Boards) with an overall score of 90% and no lower than 80% in any subject including English.
Israel. Applicants from Israel are expected to have completed the Bagrut with grades of 8/9 in Level 5 English in addition to passing two or more subjects with similar grades at Level 4/5.
Italy. Applicants studying towards the Diploma di Esame di Stato are usually expected to achieve an overall score of 95%.
In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Jamaica. Those applying from Jamaica are required to have completed Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) with two single-unit and two double-unit courses achieving no less than 1 in any unit/subject.
Japan. Applicants from Japan are usually required to have completed both the Kotogakko Sotsugyo Shomeisho and either an Associate Degree in an appropriate discipline or a UK-based foundation programme.
In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Kazakhstan. In addition to completing the Svidetel' stvo o Srednem Obrazovanii, applicants may apply to the School having completed the first year of a Bakalavr with a score of no less than 4.0.
In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Republic of Korea. We normally ask that applicants have completed both the Inmungye Kodßng in addition to either 3 GCE A Levels or a UK-based foundation programme. Applicants with a relevant Junior College Diploma may also be considered.
In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Lithuania.
Brandos Atestatas with an overall average of at least 9, with scores of at least 9 in the majority of subjects. In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Luxembourg. A pass in the Diplome de Fin d'Etudes Secondaires with a minimum overall score of 'tres bien' including English.
The Netherlands. We normally ask that students expecting to receive the Diploma Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO) should pass their final year exams with no lower than 8 in any subject.
New Zealand. University Entrance Certificate with National Certificates in Educational Achievement (NCEA) at Level 3 with 80 credits and with a grade of Excellent in the majority of subjects taken or University Entrance Certificate with the New Zealand Bursaries Certificate, with a score of 400+.
Norway. Applicants from Norway are expected to have completed a generell studiekompetanse-endorsed Vitnemål - videregående opplæring with minimum overall grades of 5.
Poland. Applicants taking the Matura are required to achieve a minimum of 90% in 3 advanced subjects, with no lower than 90% in any subject. In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Romania. We normally ask that applicants offering the Diploma de Bacalaureat score no lower than 8 in any subject. In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Slovakia. Applicants from Slovakia are required to achieve 1 overall in the Maturita. In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Republic of South Africa. Applicants from the RSA are usually asked to offer the Senior Certificate/Matriculation Endorsement with grades in the region of AAAAA at Higher Grade including both Mathematics and English. Applicants studying the National Senior Certificate would be expected to achieve an overall average of 90% with no lower than 85% in any subject.
Sweden. From applicants studying in Sweden we normally ask that you pass the Fullstandigt Slutbetyg fran Gymnasieskolan with no lower than 'mycket val godkänd (MVG)' in six subjects and 'val godkänd (VG)' in all remaining subjects. In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
Switzerland. Students taking the Federal Maturity Certificate are usually asked to achieve an overall average of 5.0.
Trinidad and Tobago. Applicants are usually expected to have completed Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) with two single-unit and two double-unit courses achieving no less than 1 in any unit/subject.
Turkey. Applicants will be expected to have completed an appropriate UK-based foundation programme. In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
United States of America. Applicants from the US are usually expected to offer FOUR Advanced Placement (AP) tests
with two at grade 4 and two at grade 5
, in addition to College Examination Board (CEEB) SAT I's and SAT II's with a minimum score of 650 in both.
Vietnam. Potential applicants must have completed both the Tot Nghiep Pho Thong Trung Hoc in AND a UK-based foundation programme. In addition we also require you to have obtained a suitable English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 7.
