School of Law

Why choose Manchester Law School?

With a proud tradition in legal education dating back to 1872 we will ensure you graduate with a rigorous grounding in your chosen degree, together with a sound appreciation of the theoretical and policy implications.

Manchester has produced many celebrated law graduates and our staff have always been at the cutting edge of academic scholarship.

We are held in high esteem by the legal profession and many leading firms provide us with sponsorship. This includes the funding of our Legal Advice Centre, which was opened in 2000 to provide students with experience in pro bono legal work.

With over 60 full-time academics, our high staff-to-student ratio ensures you receive intensive teaching.  The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) teaching assessment exercise, rated our teaching as 'excellent'.

The School fosters links with overseas institutions and we have a student exchange programme with universities in Europe, USA and Australia.

Every Manchester Law graduate with a Qualifying Law Degree at class 2:2, or above, is guaranteed a place at one of the branches of the College of Law, to study on the Legal Practice Course.

As an undergraduate coming to Manchester, you will be exposed to a breadth of scholarship, which is reflected in the wide range of courses on offer.
