Europe-China School of Law

Our School of Law is the UK member of a Consortium of European Law Schools which has recently been awarded funding from the EU to establish a Europe-China School of Law (ECSL) in Beijing.

Europe-China
Europe-China School of Law: promoting legal education in China

The project, led by the Faculty of Law of the University of Hamburg, sees the creation of ECSL as a project to assist China in further strengthening the rule of law as well as specifically facilitating the growth and re-engineering of its legal system, particularly in the economic and social contexts.

As a provider of top quality programmes delivered to the highest international standards by distinguished Chinese, European and international scholars, the ECSL is intended to have an immediate impact on the quality of legal education and research in China at both the systemic level and the professional level.  It should also bring about greater interaction and potential synergy of different legal cultures for the better development of the rule of law in China.

ECSL will provide postgraduate training, foster collaborative research projects and provide professional development programmes for Chinese lawyers and judges.
