Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Courses in Medical Ethics and Law

Medical Ethics Modular Package

We have just launched an additional package of medical ethics CPD online courses. Students complete a short online introductory course on medical ethics and ethical reasoning and then practice the skills they have learnt by choosing from other short online courses in an area they have a particular interest. In April 2012 we launched the first 5 of these modules on:

These courses will then be followed with further courses on:

These courses are accessible to everyone whether they have any previous background in ethics or not.

There will also be additional course for those wishing to get a deeper understanding of some of the theoretical foundations of bioethics including:

These second group of courses are designed to offer students a deeper understanding of the way that bioethical arguments are made. From the introductory course on medical ethics and ethical reasoning you will be familiar with such approaches as utilitarianism or deontology, and with Beauchamp and Childress’ 'principlism'. These second group of courses look at the mechanics of these approaches, and at the mechanics of philosophical argument more generally. By completing these courses, you should be equipped with a deeper understanding of ethical argument and, as a result, be able both to generate better arguments of your own, and to spot the weaknesses and flaws in the arguments and approaches of others.

Fees:

These courses can be bought individually and will cost £95 for an individual course, again with discounts available on block bookings. If you would like any further information or have any requests for future courses get in touch with me (Dr Becki Bennett ).
