Challenges at the Interface of Biolaw & Bioethics. 3rd Annual Postgraduate Conference in Bioethics

Monday June 30th and Tuesday July 1st

School of Law, University of Manchester

This event follows on from successes of previous years in Birmingham University in 2006 and Cambridge University in 2007.

The event provides a unique forum for inter-disciplinary discussion in the field of bioethics- a field which includes many disciplines, such as law, philosophy, sociology and anthropology. No other event in the UK gives postgraduate students the same broad opportunity to discuss current issues in bioethics by drawing upon their own research, and to have their papers responded to by an acknowledged expert in the field.

The conference will comprise five panels each followed by group discussion. These panels will consist of two postgraduate papers and a prepared response from an expert. The panels are:

PANEL A : Ethics & Regulation at the Boundaries of Existence

Expert: Professor Emily Jackson (London School of Economics)

PANEL B : Methods in Biolaw & Bioethics

Expert: Dr. Mairi Levitt (Lancaster University)

PANEL C : Methods, Ethics and aims of research with children

PANEL E : Research Ethics and the Regulation of Research
